Pick&Go – shopping without a cash register
Together with the startup Trigo, we opened Europe’s first hybrid supermarket in Cologne. The concept is now available in several German cities. Sensors there detect which products are taken off the shelves. This makes shopping noticeably easier: No scanning, no waiting in line at the register.
REWE delivery bot – autonomous last-mile delivery
In Hamburg, we tested autonomous delivery robots that delivered orders right to people’s doorsteps. The robots used 360-degree cameras and AI to detect obstacles and navigate safely on sidewalks. The test phase clearly showed that autonomous delivery works in everyday life and has received positive feedback from our customers. The insights gained will be incorporated into the further development of future innovative solutions.
After about 6 months of operation, the project with autonomous delivery bots in Hamburg has taken a break as planned.
