Two paths to your bachelor's degree. Dual degree programs at the Home of IT

Business Informatics or applied computer science
Bachelor's degree in business information systems
The Bachelor’s program in Business Informatics is divided into six semesters, each of which consists of theoretical and practical phases. During the theoretical phases, you’ll spend three months per semester at the university; during the practical phases, you’ll spend three months at REWE digital in Cologne.
In the sixth semester, you’ll focus entirely on your bachelor’s thesis, which you’ll write with the support of your advisor at REWE digital. Once you’ve completed it, you’ll receive your Bachelor of Science degree. Yeah!
During your internship, you'll work in various departments at REWE digital in Cologne and together with your team, handle the following tasks, among others:
- With us, you’ll learn about a wide variety of trading systems and interact with stakeholders and developers.
- You’ll gain insight into software engineering and our databases, as well as the associated programming languages, technologies and frameworks.
- You’ll gain experience in testing.
- You’ll work in systems operations and deal with networks and server systems.
- You’ll learn about business management systems.
You’ll spend your theoretical coursework at our partner institution, the University of Applied Sciences for Business (FHDW) in Bergisch Gladbach. There, your instructors and professors will share their expertise with you based on the major you choose:
- Fundamentals of Business Administration
- Business Processes and Management Information Systems
- Software Engineering
- IT Consulting
- Business English
In addition, you have the option of combining the dual degree program with an apprenticeship as an IT specialist in the field of application development or system integration as a combined program.
Vocational school classes take place during your theory phases and the IHK final exam is held in the fourth semester.
Applied computer science
Applied Computer Science brings together traditional computer science and extensive applied knowledge. The Bachelor’s program in Applied Computer Science is divided into six semesters, each of which consists of theoretical and practical phases. During the theoretical phases, you’ll spend three months per semester at the university; during the practical phases, you’ll spend three months at REWE digital in Kiel.

We've answered the most frequently asked questions about our dual study program so that you'll be fully prepared for your application. If you still have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly.
How do I apply for a dual degree program?
You can apply online right away. Just click “Apply Now” on one of our job postings. You’ll then be taken either to the REWE GROUP career portal or directly to the application form. An online assistant will guide you step by step through the process to make sure you don’t miss anything.
Can I apply for multiple jobs at the same time?
It's great that you're interested in several dual bachelor's degree programs. However, please apply to each dual degree program separately, as different departments or teams are often involved in the selection process. Thank you very much!
What does the online test for applicants to a dual degree program look like?
The test takes only about 40–50 minutes and consists of five to seven different modules - depending on which dual bachelor’s degree program you’ve applied for. You’ll have five days to complete the test starting from the date you receive the invitation email. You can pause the test after completing each module and resume it at a later time within the allotted period. If you pass the test, we’ll follow up immediately with a phone call to get to know you better.
How can I prepare for the phone interview?
The purpose of the phone call is to get to know each other. During the call, you should introduce yourself and, in particular, explain your motivation for applying to the selected dual Bachelor’s program. But don’t worry: Just be yourself and take this opportunity to ask us any questions you may have. If you need to prepare for a specific topic, you’ll receive information about it via email.
What can I expect on the day of the applicant event?
On the applicant day, we’ll invite you to one of our locations. You don’t need to do much preparation, since you can work through all the exercises right here on-site. However, to make sure you can enjoy the day without stress, you should find out exactly how to get there, where to park and so on beforehand. It’s best to allow a little extra time in case of traffic jams or train delays. On the day itself, there’s no need to be nervous - everything will be explained to you in detail. Be yourself during the exercises - just as you are in “real life.” That’s the only way we can really get to know you. We look forward to meeting you!
