IT for the
retail industry
We are the REWE Group’s digital unit and we connect the brick-and-mortar and digital worlds. As the REWE Group’s strategic IT partner, we deploy smart technologies to optimise shopping experiences and work processes. We are the hub where the physical and digital infrastructures converge. We connect, simplify, modernise and secure – to safeguard the success of the REWE Group and the digital future of retail.
In tomorrow’s food retail world, the only successful market players will be the ones that master the digital transformation and digital technology. We’ve been ensuring that the REWE Group has this digital advantage since 1984.
More digital, more connected, more dynamic
The future food retail industry will still be a business run by people for people. Yet the retail process itself will be impossible without IT because technology will have become the driving force behind virtually every industry. Consumer needs and buying behaviour are fundamentally changing. Here in the IT unit we make sure that the REWE Group remains at the forefront of digitalisation, customisation and technologisation in retail, and that it is one of the architects of future developments. In our role as strategic IT partner, we safeguard the success of the REWE Group companies.
Technologies that drive commerce
Day after day we keep millions of people supplied with essential goods. We deliver the best shopping experience, both in-store and online, which is only possible if we free up our colleagues in the more than 7,300 stores, 57 logistics centres and 16 food fulfilment centres so they can focus on their core job content. It is our technologies and services that keep everything running smoothly. This is our mission today and in the future and, as pioneers in our industry, we achieve it by continuously introducing innovative concepts for the retail sector.
Shaping retail
with IT
No one knows exactly what the future of retail will look like. But instead of waiting to find out, we are playing an active role in designing it. We have tasked ourselves with rethinking the retail industry, redesigning the world of work and driving technological progress. Three modules enable us to leverage change and momentum for our business and our customers: a stable foundation, continuous development activities and combined strengths.
Product-based structures
Our organisational structure allows us to work every day on our solid foundation, our development activities and the combination of our strengths. The domain model we use creates maximum transparency and efficiency, and it is helping us to leverage new synergies. As the Digital & Technology division’s technology arm, we form the “CAT” unit together with the Customer & Analytics team. This allows us to network across disciplines and functions within the REWE Group.
